The National Film Board Of Canada is behind a drive to create a multi-platform destination for viewers to engage with documentary filmmakers and subjects.

The subscription service will include new forms of interactive documentary and feature content that is curated, bilingual and eventually multilingual.

The platform will launch in 2014 with an initial rollout in North America and Europe.

“As one of the most important world centres for documentary, we have a responsibility to audiences here and around the world, and to the documentary community, to respond to those needs,” noted Tom Perlmutter, Government Film Commissioner and chairperson of the National Film Board Of Canada.

“Based on our success with NFB.ca, we are taking advantage of our technological infrastructure, our unique expertise in documentary content and our network of international partners to offer this innovative experience for documentary creators and audiences.”
