Oscilloscope Laboratories has picked up US rights to Rowan Athale’s feature debut Wasteland [pictured] following a deal with Bankside Films.

The film premiered in Toronto and will open in 2013. Wasteland centres on a vengeful bank robber who tries to win back the heart of his ex-girlfriend while planning a heist.

Gareth Pritchard of Mischief Films, Mark Foligno of MoliFilms and Ed Barratt of Hook Pictures produced the Moli-Mischief thriller and MoliFilms financed alongside Bankside Films and Lip Sync.

Momentum Pictures holds UK rights, Hopscotch Films will distribute in Australia and New Zealand, Films Distribution in France, Shani Films in Israel and Nettai Museum in Japan. Encore Inflight acquired world airlines rights.

Virgil Films has acquired US rights to A Man’s Story. Varon Bonicos’ film portrays the renowned fashion menswear designer Ozwald Boateng and will open in theatres on Nov 2 followed by VoD, digital and DVD roll-out on Nov 6.

Virgil Films president Joseph Amodei negotiated the deal with Trinity Film co-founder Robin Grbich.

A Man’s Story charts Boateng’s life and career from 1998 until 2010 as he rises from a young Savile Row shop owner to celebrity designer.
