Open Road Films will release the Jon Favreau comedy over Mother’s Day Weekend on May 9, 2014. Aldamisa Entertainment is financing and introduced the project to international buyers in Cannes.

Favreau wrote and will direct the film and stars alongside Robert Downey Jr, Sofia Vergara, Scarlett Johansson and John Leguizamo. Chef tells of a professional cook who loses his job and reconnects with his family after he starts up a food truck business.  

Producers Karen Gilchrist and Aldamisa’s Sergei Bespalov have set a July start in Los Angeles. CAA packaged the project and arranged financing.

Open Road CEO Tom Ortenberg, general counsel and evp of operations and business affairs Elliott Kleinberg and svp of acquisitions Ben Cotner negotiated the deal with CAA and Aldamisa COO Jere Hausfater and Philip Elway.
