Open Road Films has acquired US rights to the supernatural thriller financed by Voltage Pictures and will release nationwide in the first quarter 2015.

Testament centres on a group of boarding school teenagers who face a chain of apocalyptic events that stem from Biblical stories.

Production is scheduled to begin in March 2014. Casting is underway and Eric Bress of The Butterfly Effect will direct from his own screenplay.

Voltage president Nicholas Chartier (pictured) and head of production Zev Foreman negotiated the deal with Open Road CEO Tom Ortenberg and his team and will produce. Lisa Ellzey and Patrick Newall serve as executive producers.
