EXCLUSIVE: Outplay has picked up distribution rights for France, Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg to Matias Lira’s controversial debut feature Drama.

The deal was negotiated with Carlos Hansen of BF Distribution, who is handling international sales.

The Chilean director’s first feature is about three theatre students who begin to experiment with their own lives on the streets of Sanitago in order to take their experiences with them onstage.

BF Distribution is screening the films to buyers on Monday May 16 in the Cannes market.

Lira is developing two further projects, a feature length road movie set on the Inca Trail and a documentary about an employee at Lars Von Trier’s production company Zentropa who was exiled during Pinochet’s dictatorship. Lira met him whilst doing an internship at the company.
