The pair will lock horns again at the international box office this weekend as each heads into new markets. Black Swan, The Adjustment Bureau and The King’s Speech should help to keep things lively.

Paramount Pictures International’s animation ruled the waves last weekend and executives will look to strong holdover business and robust launches in Russia and South Africa to move the dial up from $51.7m.

Meanwhile Sony Pictures Releasing International (SPRI) unleashes Battle: Los Angeles in approximately 22 territories including France, Australia, Brazil, China and Singapore.

The action film debuted in 33 markets last weekend and grossed $16.7m, making this a key early proving ground for the film. CBS Films’ Faster opens in Germany and The Roommate arrives in Spain.

Black Swan stands at $166.9m and Fox International will be looking for gains that propel the psycho-thriller towards the $175m mark. The King’s Speech, licensed by FilmNation across the bulk of territories, stands at more than $206.4m.

Fox International’s The Chronicles Of Narnia: Voyage Of The Dawn Treader has grossed $298.3m and Gulliver’s Travels stands at $174.3m. Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son on $26.3m opens in seven including Sweden and 127 Hours has grossed $37.4m.

In response to the ongoing tragedy in Japan Warner Bros Pictures International (WBPI) pulled The Rite and Hereafter. SPRI has also halted its Apr 1 scheduled release of Battle: Los Angeles.

The Rite will open in Germany and Spain and has grossed $38.3m to date, while Red Riding Hood debuts in Russia and South Korea. Hall Pass stands at an early $10.4m and Yogi Bear has reached $100.4m.

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International territory for Gnomeo & Juliet have generated $15.3m so far and the family film arrives this weekend in Spain and Italy.

Mars Need Moms is struggling and gets an early shot at a big family market when it arrives in Mexico. DreamWorks’ action thriller I Am Number Four on $58.9m opens in Germany and Austria. Latest figures put Tangled on $356.7m and Tron: Legacy on $225.8m.

Universal/UPI’s sci-fi thriller The Adjustment Bureau lands in a further eight territories this weekend, among them Taiwan and Hong Kong. It stands at a relatively early $26.1m.

Office Romance opens in Russia and Julia’s Eyes debuts in Argentina.
