EXCLUSIVE: Benelux distributor inks string of hot titles.

Fledgling Benelux distributor Remain in Light has secured a string of hot titles from the American Film Market.

The all-rights acquisitions include Fortitude duo The Runner, starring Nicolas Cage as an idealistic but flawed politician who is forced to confront his dysfunctional life after his career is destroyed in a sex scandal, and James Ponsoldt drama The End of the Tour, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Jason Segel in the story of a magazine reporter who recounts his travels and conversations with iconic author David Foster Wallace.

Also new to the slate is Joshua Marston’s buzzed-about untitled drama with Michael Shannon and Rachel Weisz from Protagonist, and Jean Marc Vallee’s anticipated comedy-drama Demolition with Jake Gyllenhaal and Naomi Watts from Sierra/Affinity.

From TWC, the company picked up animation The Nut Job and comedy-drama The One I Love as well as documentaries Keep on Keepin’ On and Fed Up.

Remain in Light secured a deal with The Exchange for comedy-drama Dear White People and prior to the AFM the company completed a deal for Voltage’s Andrew Niccol thriller Good Kill.

Deals were brokered for Remain in Light by acquisitions executives Elise Van Marcke and Olivier Van Den Broeck, who told Screen: “We were impressed by the amount of good product on the market only weeks after what was a very successful TIFF for us [acquisitions included While We’re Young, Good Kill and Dead Lands].

“We are thrilled to have been in LA to do so much business with many new partners and we are glad the sellers we met appreciated our young and dynamic distribution team which always looks for independent and edgy content.”
