Freida Mock’s documentary centres on Anita Hill, the law professor who 20 years ago testified against US Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas in an infamous sexual harassment hearing.

Samuel Goldwyn swooped on US rights following the film’s recent premiere at Human Rights Watch Film Festival and plans an autumn release.

Vice-president and general counsel Ian Puente brokered the deal with CAA and Marc Simon at Cowan DeBaets Abrahams & Sheppard.

“We are excited to be working with the talented Freida Mock in bringing Anita’s powerful, life-changing story to not only the people who lived through the circus of the hearings but also to a new generation,” said the distributor’s svp Peter Goldwyn.

“Anita’s impact on the course of history over the last 20 plus years shouldn’t be forgotten and this film celebrates her legacy.”

“I’m very excited to be working with the great team at Samuel Goldwyn Films to bring Anita to moviegoers this fall,” added Mock.
