Screen Media 2012 slate features American Animal, L'Assault
President Suzanne Blech’s line-up includes the New Zealand Western Good For Nothing from Mike Wallis as reported exclusively by Screendaily on Tuesday.
“2012 will be a year where we focus on quality niche films including festival darlings, documentaries, foreign, urban and Latino – basically what we see as underserved demographics in the US,” Blech said.
“We plan to release a minimum of 12 films theatrically and an additional 30 movies direct to the marketplace.”
The spring line-up is as follows: Good For Nothing by Mike Wallis; 2011 SXSW comedy premiere American Animal by Marr D’Elia; 2011 Toronto comedy-drama A Happy Event (Un Heureux Evenment) by Remi Bezancon; hijacking thriller L’Assault by Julien LeClerq; and coming-of-age drama Mamitas by Nicholas Ozeki.
Summer releases are: Wild Horse Wild Ride, a drama by Alex Dawson, and Damon Russell’s drugs documentary Snow On Tha Bluff.
Screen Media has additionally promoted Tom Yagielski to vp of domestic distribution, theatrical / home entertainment and hired former Lionsgate acquisitions executive Seth Needle as acquisitions and marketing manager.
