Sony’s The Smurfs stood at more than $211m as of last weekend and face an international showdown with Cowboys & Aliens heading into the new session.  

Sony Pictures Releasing International’s Bad Teacher is on more than $98.9m and Zookeeper is bearing down on $64m.

Cowboys & Aliens is set to launch through PPI in around 23 territories, among them France, Germany, Mexico and Hong Kong, and stands at an early $21.9m.

DreamWorks International’s Kung Fu Panda 2 has amassed $465.2m and opens in Italy, while The Guard arrives in Australia and New Zealand. Transformers: Dark Of The Moon has amassed $751.2m.

Fox International’s Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes has grossed $127.3m so far and launches in Brazil this weekend.

Elsewhere for Fox, Mr Popper’s Penguins has taken $97.2m and opens in Norway, while Pedro Almodovar’s The Skin I Live In debuts in the UK and Come Trovare Nel Modo debuts in Italy.

Cars 2 has grossed $321.1m and could get a big boost from China after launching there on Wednesday [24] through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International. The distributor unleashes DreamWorks’ Fright Night remake in Italy.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 stands at $913m through Warner Bros Pictures International (WBPI) while Horrible Bosses has taken $48.3m and arrives in Australia.

WBPI is set to launch New Line’s Final Destination 5 on an early $7.7m in the UK, Russia, Germany and Spain this weekend. Meanwhile Crazy, Stupid, Love. opens in Germany, Brazil and Mexico.

Universal’s smash comedy Bridesmaids has reached $106.6m and opens in South Korea. One Day debuts in the UK, while the acclaimed documentary Senna roars into Mexico and Tu Sera Mon Fils opens in France.

Lionsgate reported that Season Of The Witch has grossed $66.8m through international licensees.
