Sonia Mehandjiyska to head distribution at Global Screen; Thorsten Ritter to leave Bavaria
Former Echo Bridge Entertainment VP international sales to head recently formed Telepool and Bavaria Media joint venture.
Sonia Mehandjiyska is to join the recently-formed world distributor Global Screen from Feb 1, taking over executive responsibility for theatrical and TV sales.
Mehandjiyska had previously served as vice president international sales in the London office of US-based Echo Bridge Entertainment since 2009, and will report directly to Global Screen’s CEOs Rolf Moser and Thomas Weymar.
“With Mrs. Mehandjiyska, we have secured a skilled and experienced hand for this crucial position,” Weymar said. “She has been at home in theatrical and TV distribution for years, speaks six languages and will decisively bolster our market position with her international background and leadership abilities.”
Mehandjiyska had previously gathered international sales experience from positions at Gibraltar International in Los Angeles and MRG Inc. Lightning Entertainment, Mainline Releasing) in Santa Monica.
Meanwhile, ScreenDaily has learnt that Thorsten Ritter is to leave Bavaria Media at the end of April 2012. Last September, he had been named as head of film sales when Global Screen was created as a joint-venture by Telepool and Bavaria Media for world sales of TV and theatrical product outside of German-speaking territories.
