The companies have set June 3 2016 for the release of the Seth Rogen animated comedy.

Sausage Party, another collaboration between Sony and Annapurna following their work on the early awards contender Foxcatcher, is based on a screenplay by Rogen, frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg, Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir.

The script is based on a story by Rogen, Goldberg and Jonah Hill. Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan direct the story of a sausage’s quest to uncover the truth behind his existence.

Annapurna Pictures and Point Grey Pictures are producing the film, which features a voice cast of Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Salma Hayek, Edward Norton, David Krumholtz, Nick Kroll, Michael Cera, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, Bill Hader, Anders Holm, Paul Rudd and Danny McBride.

Megan Ellison produces with Rogen, Goldberg and Vernon. Jonah Hill serves as executive producer alongside James Weaver, Hunter and Shaffir. 

Nitrogen Studios Canada in Vancouver will handle all CG animation, design, production and post-production.
