SPC has acquired all US rights to Richard J. Lewis’ feature adaptation, which is in competition at Venice.

Sony Pictures Classics has acquired US rights to Richard J. Lewis’ Barney’s Version, the film adaptation of Mordecai Richler’s prize winning comic novel.

Paul Giamatti stars in the film which tells the story of one man’s life over four decades, alongside Minnie Driver, Dustin Hoffman and Rosamund Pike, Scott Speedman, Rachelle Lefevre and Bruce Greenwood.

Robert Lantos has produced the Venice competition film for his company Serendipity Films. It will go on to have its North American premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
