First Run Features will distribute in the US while Films We Like has acquired Canadian rights to Christopher Felver’s portrait of the celebrated poet and publisher.

Lawrence Ferlinghetti: A Rebirth Of Wonder features illustrious talking heads such as Bob Dylan, Dennis Hopper and Allen Ginsberg.

Felver directed, produced the film about the San Francisco artist often linked with the Beat Generation, who took on the authorities in protest over the ban of Ginsberg’s poem Howl and launched the City Lights Books imprint and the City Lights book store.

David Koh, Josh Braun and Dan Braun of Submarine Entertainment brokered the deals with Marc Mauceri on behalf of First Run Features and Ron Mann on behalf of Films We Like.

First Run Features plans a theatrical release later this year followed by DVD and digital roll-out. Films We Like will distribute the film on all platforms in Canada in conjunction with the US release.

Submarine intends to announce international distributors shortly.
