In a significant statement of its ambitions to forge ties with a stable of regular collaborators, the distributor has closed a deal with Duplass Brothers Productions on worldwide theatrical and ancillary rights to seven titles.

6 Years

Horror comedy Creep will be the first to go and like the other six titles – four of which have not started production – the deal falls within the ambit of Duplass Brothers Productions’ exclusive SVOD arrangement with Netflix signed in January.

The Orchard gets worldwide theatrical, digital rental and sales, cable/satellite VOD, airline, DVD and soundtrack rights.

Creep will launch exclusively on iTunes on Tuesday (23) and stars Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice, who also directed and previously directed The Overnight, which The Orchard released theatrically last Friday. Creep was co-produced by Jason Blum at Blumhouse.

The other titles include Hannah Fidell’s drama 6 Years (pictured) starring Taissa Farmiga and Ben Rosenfield and J Davis’ comedy drama Manson Family Vacation with Jay Duplass.

Mel Eslyn will produce the four upcoming features under the Duplass Brothers Productions label.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better working relationship with Jay and Mark on The Overnight — they have been amazing collaborators who share our passion for telling compelling stories, fostering new talent and finding disruptive new ways to reach audiences,” said The Orchard’s svp of film and TV Paul Davidson.

“Needless to say, we are pumped to expand our partnership with them on this great slate of exciting new films.”

“It’s been a great experience working with The Orchard on The Overnight,” said Jay and Mark Duplass. “They have proven to be an innovative and nimble partner, and we are elated about a continued relationship for years to come.”

The Orchard’s upcoming slate includes Sundance selection Cartel Land, Joe Swanberg’s Digging For Fire, Nasty Baby starring Kristin Wiig and Louder Than Bombs starring Jesse Eisenberg, Gabriel Byrne and Amy Ryan.

Jessica Lacy of ICM Partners and Josh Braun of Submarine Entertainment brokered the deal with Danielle DiGiacomo from The Orchard. ICM Partners represents The Duplass Brothers.
