Wild Bunch confirms sale of Christian Vincent’s culinary-themed tale to the Weinsteins.

French sales company Wild Bunch has sold culinary picture Haute Cuisine to The Weinstein Company, company chief Vincent Maraval has confirmed to Screen.

The picture, based on a true story, stars Catherine Frot as the private cook of President François Mitterand, played by Jean D’Ormesson.

Hired by Mitterand to cook him his preferred traditional French dishes, Frot’s character finds herself at odds with the Elysée Palace’s official chef, played by Hippolyte Girardot.

Maraval said the Weinsteins had acquired the film for the US, UK, all of Asia apart from Japan and South Africa.

Wild Bunch Distribution is due to release the film in France in 2012.
