Roadside Attractions has acquired North American rights to Mark Landsman’s music documentary Thunder Soul produced by Snoot Entertainment.

Roadside is eyeing a spring 2011 release. Thunder Soul follows the alumni from Houston’s Kashmere High School Stage Band who return home after 35 years to play a tribute concert for their 92-year-old inspirational band leader.

The film one the SXSW audience award earlier this year and similar festival honours in Dallas, Los Angeles and Aspen.

Snoot Entertainment president Keith Calder and Jessica Wu produced the film along with director Mark Landsman.

Roadside co-president Howard Cohen brokered the deal with Calder, Submarine Entertainment and CAA on behalf of the film-makers. HanWay Films is handling international sales.
