The Weinstein Company has acquired rights in US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and France to Juan Jose Campanella’s animated feature and Argentinian smash.

TWC will release the film in English as Underdogs on August 27 featuring the voices of “several A-list Hollywood actors”.

The story centres on a reluctant hero who recruits players from his foosball table and magically brings them to life to help him win a football match and save his town.

Producer Jorge Estrada Mora represented the filmmakers.
