StudioCanal has set an early 2014 release for salsa comedy starring Nick Frost, while Entertainment date four including David O. Russell’s American Hustle.

James Griffiths’ debut feature Cuban Fury, starring Nick Frost, Rashida Jones, Chris O’Dowd and Olivia Colman, will be released on Jan 10, 2014 through StudioCanal.

The salsa comedy is one of a number of films dated on the latest UK release calendar from Rentrak. Among them is Zal Batmanglij’s The East, the closing film of this year’s SXSW, which has been dated for a June 28 release through Fox and eOne’s Snitch, which is set for June 21.

Entertainment Film Distributors has also set dates for four of its upcoming slate, including David O. Russell’s American Hustle which will be out on Dec 26. Russell’s strongest UK performer remains Three Kings with a $10.8m (£7m) return, while his previous feature Silver Linings Playbook has made $8.2m (£5.3m) to date.

The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman is set for Nov 8 through Entertainment and Dexter Fletcher’s Sunshine on Leith will be released on Oct 4. Fletcher’s feature debut Wild Bill made $205,000 (£132,359) last year.

The distributor will also release John Well’s August: Osage Country on Dec 13 in the West End, before expanding it wide on Dec 26 and giving it a saturation release from Jan 17.

Meanwhile, Pinewood Pictures will release The Christmas Candle, starring Screen Star of Tomorrow Samantha Barks, John Hannah and Susan Boyle on Nov 29. Director John Stephenson’s previous feature Five Children and It made $2.4m (£1.6m) back in 2004.
