Los Angeles-based Cinevolve Studios has acquired North American rights to John McKenzie’s British farce 12 In A Box and plans an August 7 platform release in Los Angeles.

The story centres on a school reunion dinner at a remote English mansion where the guests are offered a huge cash reward if they can stay in the mysterious building for 96 hours.

12 In A Box won the best storyline prize at the Boston International Film festival earlier this year and took the 2007 audience award at the third Annual Zurich Film Festival.

Cinevolve Studios was founded in 2007 by a collective of independent film-makers and entertainment industry professionals.

The release line-up includes the Venezuelan foreign language Oscar submission El Tinte De La Fama.
