Film Movement has acquired US rights to Damjan Kozole’s (pictured) Slovenian and English-language mystery A Call Girl.

The company has set a second quarter theatrical release for the tale of a provincial girl working as an escort in the big city who finds herself in trouble when a politician client dies of a heart attack while he is with her.

Film Movement president Adley Gartenstein and vice-president of acquisitions and distribution Rebeca Conget brokered the deal with M-appeal’s Maren Kroymann.

The company also announced it will release Geralyn Pezanoski’s documentary Mine day-and-date in theatres and on iTunes on January 8.

Mine explores the bond between humans and animals and will debut in San Francisco theatres before expanding into more than 20 cities.

“We are very proud to announce this theatrical day-and-date iTunes movie release and are confident that it will open the door to a successful new arena of film distribution, enabling a wider audience,” Gartenstein said.
