Image takes North American rights to Dare starring Emmy Rossum

Image Entertainment has aquired all North American rights to Dare, which premiered at Sundance.

Emmy Rossum, Zach Gilford, Ashley Springer, Ana Gasteyer, and Rooney Mara star with Sandra Bernhard and Alan Cumming.

The film follows three different teeenagers who come together in their last semester of high school.

Adam Salky directed; David Brind wrote and co-produced. Producers are Mary Jane Skalski (The Station Agent) and Jason Orans (Goodbye Solo). The film is a co-production fo Next Wednesday and Gigantic Pictures.

“Audiences will identify with this 21st-century update of the John Hughes oeuvre, as it perfectly captures this generation with nothing to rebel against except their self-imposed inhibitions,” said Garrett M. Lee, Image’s senior vice president, theatrical. “This film continues our plans to build a portfolio of unique and entertaining films from great filmmakers,” added Lee.

Image plans a theatrical release starting in New York and Los Angeles on November 13. Image also plans home video, digital and broadcast releases.

Image Entertainment’s J. Beck negotiated the deal with Sarah Lash at Cinetic Media.
