Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group has acquired US video and television rights to St. Trinian’s and will collaborate with NeoClassics Films on the theatrical release.
NeoClassics acquired the US rights from Ealing Studios and is distributing the film theatrically this summer. St. Trinian’s grossed more than $25m (£15.8m) in the UK.
Irwin Olian, CEO of NeoClassics, said: “We are excited to be working with Sony in connection with the release of St. Trinian’s and look forward to their input and support with respect to our theatrical release later this summer.”
Oliver Parker and Barnaby Thompson directed the film about a dysfunctional girls’ boarding school starring Colin Firth, Rupert Everett, Gemma Arterton, Lena Headey, Caterina Murino and Lily Cole.
Ealing Studios is set to produce a sequel this summer called St. Trinian’s II: The Legend Of Fritton’s Gold.
