Visit closes key EFM sales
The New York-based Visit Films has reported a slew of sales on its Berlin slate, led by Shane Carruth’s Upstream Color.
The thriller [pictured] has gone to Metrodome in the UK and Codex Media in Turkey. Carruth stars alongside Amy Seimetz and Upstream Color premiered in Sundance where it won the special jury prize for sound design.
Several other Sundance premieres found distributors. Hannah Fidell’s psychodrama A Teacher went to Sonamu in South Korea and Inter Film in Japan, while Eliza Hittman’s exploration of New York teenage sexuality It Felt Like Love landed at KMBO for France.
The Rutger Hauer drama Il Futuro went to New Select in Japan and has also been licensed to Strand Releasing for the US and will be released theatrically later in the year.
Toronto premiere and Rotterdam selection Watchtower from veteran Turkish director Pelin Esmer has been licensed to Film Movement for theatrical release in the US, Vertigo for Hungary and Encore for airlines.
