The US retail giant on Tuesday [26] entered the streaming arena after integrating its VUDU VoD service on to its homepage.

The move comes in the wake of Netflix’s controversial price hike, which forced CEO Reed Hastings to concede during an earnings call on Monday that the company expected weaker third quarter results.

Alongside an extensive catalogue of English-language and foreign titles, visitors to Walmart.com can stream new releases like Source Code, The Lincoln Lawyer or Hobo With A Shotgun for $3.99. They can also buy unlimited streaming access for upwards of $9.99.

Walmart acquired VUDU last year.

“This integration allows us to introduce more Walmart.com customers to digital entertainment and give them access to thousands of new release and popular movie titles immediately through VUDU’s high-quality streaming service,” VUDU general manager Edward Lichty said in a statement.
