Warner Bros is expected to reduce the input from its feeder division as the studio focuses on developing a leaner slate of commercial heavyweights.

Reports circulating Hollywood yesterday [22] said the annual number of films provided by New Line would drop to around four.

Warner Bros declined to comment on such a move or on the potential impact on staffing levels at New Line, however it is understood the reduction could come into effect around 2013.

New Line provided four films to the Warner Bros slate last year and has five releases set for 2011 including this upcoming weekend’s Farrelly Brothers comedy Hall Pass (pictured), Final Destination 5, Valentine’s Day and Horrible Bosses. The Rite opened on Jan 28 in North America and has amassed $32m.

Production on the two Hobbit films is scheduled to commence soon.
