EXCLUSIVE: IM Global CEO Stuart Ford has curated the two-day film event, set to run in July during the International Festival Of Business 2014 (IFB 2014) in Liverpool.

Dream Factory will take place from July 14-15 as part of the broader seven-week business convention IFB 2014 and features more than 30 speakers on a panoply of topics related to the creative and business aspects of film-making.

Liverpool-born Ford curated Dream Factory in partnership with UK talent management firm Independent and local writer and producer Kevin Sampson.

The event will take place at Liverpool’s Foundation For Art And Creative Technology (FACT, pictured), the arts and media centre located in the Ropewalks district that houses four state-of-the-art film screens, several art galleries and a café and bar.

The first of the two days will be dedicated to the creative aspects of film-making while the second day will focus on the business of film.

At time of writing, scheduled programme highlights included a discussion with Get Carter director Mike Hodges about his career and the crime genre, a masterclass with United Agents’ Natasha Galloway and Autobahn producer Ben Pugh on making big films on a budget, a pitch session and a showcase of upcoming UK talent.

Speakers include BBC Worldwide chief brands officer Amanda Hill, Scott Free producer Liza Marshall, Apollo Productions CEO and former British Film Commissioner Steve Norris, Aether screenwriter Krysty Wilson-Cairns, The Woman In Black: Angel Of Death screenwriter Jon Croker, IM Global’s Ford and colleagues Bonnie Voland and David Jourdan.

“The Dream Factory promises to be a vibrant, informative and richly entertaining two-day immersion programme into the best of British and international cinema,” said Ford. “I’m very excited to be in the thick of the action.”

IFB

IFB 2014 itself takes place across June and July, bringing together global business and trade delegates to examine such themes as urban design, digital industries, financial services, high education, environmentally friendly practices, science and technology and energy.

Announcing the launch of IFB 2014 earlier this year at the British Business Embassy in Liverpool’s St George’s Hall, Prime Minster David Cameron said: “The festival is the biggest showcase of British industry since 1951, and will act as a shop window for UK innovation and creativity.

“I want to see a full economic revival and a balanced recovery – one that benefits all in every area of the country. None of these things happen by accident. They happen when we put in place the right policies, approach and strategy. That is what I am committed to doing and the International Festival For Business is a key part of this.”
