Eight documentary shorts up for Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has named the eight documentary shorts that have been short-listed for this year’s documentary short subject Oscar.

Between three and five of the eight short-listed projects will be get Oscar nominations. Voters from the Academy’s Documentary Branch chose the eight from 30 eligible entries.

Listed in alphabetical order with the names of their production companies the eight films are:

* Born Sweet, Cynthia Wade Productions
* Killing in the Name, Moxie Firecracker Films
* Living for 32, Cuomo Cole Productions
* One Thousand Pictures: RFK’s Last Journey, Lichen Films
* Poster Girl, Portrayal Films
* Strangers No More, Simon & Goodman Picture Company
* Sun Come Up, Sun Come Up, LLC
* The Warriors of Qiugang, Thomas Lennon Films, Inc.

Oscar nominations will be announced on January 25, 2011.
