Dean Devlin’s sales division at Electric Entertainment has hired Nolan Pielak to work out of the newly opened Vancouver office.

Pielak will handle film and television sales in conjunction with Electric’s LA-based head of international distribution Sonia Mehandjiyska.

The new arrival will also focus on expanding production and business opportunities in Canada.

He most recently served as president of international distribution at Vancouver-based Joker Films and prior to that was head of sales at Keystone Entertainment.

Pielak began at Franchise Pictures and later became president of international distribution at Dream Entertainment.

“Nolan and I started in the business at the same time and I have valued his opinion for years as a peer,” said Mehandjiyska. “Working together will be a seamless experience.”

“I’m so thrilled about Electric and all the new possibilities with the expansion into Canada,” said Pielak. “Dean has an extremely accomplished production and development team, complete with their own state-of-the-art post and VFX facilities and now with the new sales arm, the final piece is in place.”

Electric’s international sales and distribution division launched last year at the AFM and the slate includes The Better Angels, Sundance premiere God’s Pocket starring the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, and The Wannabe.
