Spanish outfit Latido Films has sold several key titles to leading territories, including comedy hit Chinese Take-Away to Ascot Elite for Germany and to Archibald for Italy.

Sebastian Borensztein’s film Chinese Take-Away, starring Ricardo Darin, about a Chinese man who moves to Argentina and befriends a cranky local is already taking the Argentinian box office by storm and has also been sold to Disney for distribution in Latin America.

Latido has also sold Rafael Lara’s psychological thriller The Fifth Commandment to Ascot Elite for Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The film was presented to the market for the first time at Cannes and stars Guillermo Ivan as a schizophrenic guy in Mexico who was sexually abused as a child and decides to go on a killing spree of attractive women.

Other Latido deals include the sale of Daniel De Felippo and Gustavo Giannini’s popular animation film Free Birds to IOF for India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Butan, and to Agaligo (Thailand), Calinos Entertainment (Turkey) and Fatallah Films (Middle East). Plus Salvador Garcia Ruiz’s drama Paper Castles to Optimale for distribution in France, Hilda Hidalgo’s Of Love And Other Demons to M2 Films for release in Poland and Miguel Cohan’s drama No Return to SBS for Australia.

Latido are also confident of having success selling Xavier Villaverde’s El Sexo De Los Angeles to buyers at the Madrid De Cine event, which takes place June 19-21. The romantic comedy is currently in post and stars Astrid Berges-Frsibey alongside Alvaro Cervantes.
