German sales agent Aktis Film International has picked up international sales for Serbian director Srdjan Koljevic’s second feature The Woman With a Broken Nose which won five awards at last week’s Cinema City film festival in Novi Sad.

The co-production between Belgrade-based Bas Celik and Leipzig’s Neue Mediopolis Filmproduktion – their third after Srdan Golubovic’s The Trap and Damjan Kozole’s Slovenian Girl – will have its international premiere in Karlovy Vary at the end of the month.

Aktis Film is currently in Moscow with Matti Geschonneck’s Berlin, Boxhagener Platz, which had its world premiere in the Berlinale Special sidebar last February and is one of the entries for the Main Competition at this year’s Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF).

MIFF’s 32nd edition opened on Thursday evening with the world premiere of veteran French director Claude Lelouch’s latest feature What Love May Bring (Ces Amours Là) which Studio 37/Rezo Films will be releasing in French cinemas on September 15.

Before the screening Lelouch was presented with a special award in recognition of his “outstanding contribution to world cinematography” and spoke in an acceptance speech of his indebtedness to the late great Russian director Mikhail Kalatozov (1903-1973) for being an inspiration to him when he started out as a filmmaker over 50 years ago.

MIFF runs to June 26.
