French distributor Carlotta has acquired French rights to Marco Berger’s Argentine drama Absent (Ausente) from Paris-based Rendez-vous Pictures.

Rendez-vous head Philippe Tasca said that negotiations started in Ventana Sur and the deal was signed in Paris last week.

Absent, which showed in Ventana Sur as a work-in-progress Primer Corte selection, was one of the buzziest films of the market. The story follows a boy obsessed with his swim coach. Buenos Aires-based Oh My Gomez! Films produced.

Berger previously directed Plan B, which was also sold internationally by Rendez-vous.
