Young audiences across six European cities will vote from three films nominated by the European Film Academy.
The European Film Academy is introducing a new award targeting young audiences for its 25th edition of the European Film Awards.
The Award will be voted for on Young Audience Film Day on June 10, when three films nominated by the EFA will be screened to young audiences (10-13 year olds) in six different cities – Amsterdam, Belgrade, Copenhagen, Erfurt, Stockholm and Turin.
These audiences will then act as a jury and vote for the winner after the screenings, with the presentation of the award taking place on the same day in Erfurt.
The initiative is being backed by six partners: EYE Film Institute Netherlands (Amsterdam, the Netherlands), Film Center Serbia (Belgrade, Serbia), Danish Film Institute (Copenhagen, Denmark), Deutsche Kindermedienstiftung Goldener Spatz (Erfurt, Germany), Swedish Film Institute (Stockholm, Sweden), and Museo Nazionale del Cinema (Turin, Italy).
EFA chairman Yves Marmion: “It has long been our wish to shed a special light on the younger audience, the people who will be watching European films in the years and decades to come.”
The European Film Academy Young Audience Award is an initiative of the European Film Academy and EFA Productions with backing by Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM).
