eOne takes Rezo’s The Horde
EXCLUSIVE: Entertainment One has picked up multi-territory, including North America and the U.K, on the Russian epic The Horde.
Set against the backdrop of the Mongol invasion of Europe in the 14th Century, Andrei Proshkin’s historic drama is one of the costliest Russian pictures ever shot.
The deal, which includes Australia and New Zealand, was brokered by Sebastien Chesneau of Paris-based Rezo World Sales and Jo Sweby, eOne’s Manager, Worldwide Acquisitions.
“We’re actively seeking premium films for eOne’s divisions across the globe and we’re thrilled to collaborate with Rezo and secure The Horde for four of eOne’s core territories,” said Sweby.
Chesneau adds “we had a very strong response from the market on the film. I’m truly happy to collaborate with eOne”.
The epic tale, produced by Sergei Kravets and Natalya Gostyushina, is due to hit Russian screens on 800 copies this autumn.
Chesneau says there is also strong interest from all major territories, particularly from German speaking territories, Scandinavia, Latin America and Japan, with deals under way.
