Singaporean film-maker Eric Khoo (My Magic) will be president of the five-person International Competition jury.

Locarno has finalised the jury for the International Competition at this year’s festival. Singaporean film-maker Eric Khoo (My Magic) will be president of the jury, and the other members are Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani, French actor Melvil Poupaud, Swiss director Lionel Baier, and US director Joshua Safdie.

The juries for Filmmakers of the Present, devoted to first and second films, will be chaired by former BAFICI director Eduardo Antin. Other jury members confirmed so far are German director Maren Ade and Belgian film-maker Joachim Lafosse.

For the Leopards of Tomorrow (short films), the jury will be presided over by Argentine director Lisandro Alonso. Jury members include French producer Sylvia Pialat, Swiss actress Nina Meurisse and Portuguese director Miguel Gomes.

Locarno’s artistic director Olivier Pere said in a statement: “For the selection in the 63rd edition of the Festival, that promises to be rich in terms of new discoveries, we have chosen international personalities, young and passionate about films, who are highly respected within the sector. We are delighted they have responded to our invitation with such enthusiasm.”

The 63rd edition of the Locarno Film Festival will run August 4 -14.
