Taking place during the Ghent International Film Festival, the concert will feature music from legendary composers Bernard Herrmann and Franz Waxman.

The 38th Ghent International Film Festival will include a concert featuring film music from composers Bernard Herrmann and Franz Waxman.

The concert — Film Music Masterpieces:Maestros of Suspense — will take place at Ghent’s Music Centre De Bijloke on Oct 12.

The programme includes Herrmann’s music from Psycho and Vertigo as well as Waxman’s music from Rebecca and Rear Window. The works will be performed by the National Orchestra of Belgium, conducted by Dirk Brossé, with scenes from the films projected on a big screen.

Herrmann’s other composing credits included Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane, Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver and William Dieterle’s The Devil And Daniel Webster, which earned him an Oscar.

Double Oscar winner Waxman also wrote scores including James Whale’s Bride Of Frankenstein, George Cukor’s The Philadelphia Story and Billy Wilder’s Sunset Boulevard.

The Ghent International Film Festival will run Oct 11-22.
