The new festival, run by Stratus Media Group, will take place in March 2012.

Karen Arikian has been appointed as the director of the Perugia International Film Festival, which will have its first edition in March 2012.

Arikian, who is a consultant for European Film Promotion on its US initiatives, will head up the new Italian festival, as well as continuing in her role as executive director of the Hamptons International Film Festival.

The Perugia International Film Festival is the latest initiative from Stratus Media Group, which has its headquarters in Santa Barbara. The first edition will have a special focus on the art and science of film-making.

“We are thrilled to have Karen spearhead the operation and production of our Perugia del Cinema,” said Stratus CEO Paul Feller.

“Karen has the knowledge and imagination to make the experience breathtaking for those who attend, as well as enlightening and rewarding for those who partner, support and present. With her at the helm, this festival will be a world-renowned annual event,” he added.

“I am honoured and thrilled to be part of this new and exciting endeavor,” added Arikian. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to
showcase international cinema and Italian film, while at the same time, building relations with the University of Perugia,” added Arikian.
