Liv Ullmann will be an honourary guest.

Dheeraj Akolkar’s Norwegian documentary Liv & Ingmar is to open the Nordic audience programme Nordic Focus on August 17, which takes place during the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund.

The film charts the love story between actress Liv Ullmann and director Ingmar Bergman, who met in 1965, going on to make twelve films together.

Ullmann, in her role as honourary president of the Norwegian International Film Festival, will be present at the gala premiere. She will also attend the Amanda Awards Ceremony and will be present at the festival’s opening night film, Kon-Tiki on August 18.

Liv & Ingmar is produced by Rune H. Trondsen for Nordic Stories. The film is distributed to Norwegian movie theatres by SF Norge.

Festival Director Gunnar Johan Løvvik said: “Liv & Ingmar is a very important film to us. The relationship between Liv Ullmann and Ingmar Bergman is something everyone knows about, but not like the story is told in this film, so intimate and by Liv herself.”

“Working with Liv is a dream come true,” added director Dheeraj Akolkar. “I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart for allowing me and my crew to make one of the most delicate stories of her life on screen. Liv & Ingmar could not have been made without her, the director says.”

The 40th Norwegian Film Festival runs August 17-23.
