Italian box office wunderkind Fausto Brizzi has signed a four-film deal with Medusa, the production-distribution giant confirmed to ScreenDaily today.

The first in the quartet is to be entitled Sex In 3D and will begin shooting in Spring 2011 for a fall or Christmas release the same year.

Financial details were not disclosed, but the first picture will be produced together with Brizzi’s own Wild Side production company. Until now, Brizzi has worked with I.I.F. (Italian International Film) of Fulvio and Federica Lucisano.

Of the new film Brizzi says, “It will be a film that casts irony on eroticism, a sort of “Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex But Were Afraid To Ask,” but Brizzi also said the film will be slated for a wide-target audience age-wise.

While the cast is still being defined he has said the film will be less of an ensemble piece than his other films have been.

Brizzi leapt from a strong career as a screenwriter after cutting his teeth on the Aurelio De Laurentiis produced Christmas comedies, which are an annual franchise here.

His debut Night Before Finals skyrocketed to the top of the charts earning a total of $15.5 mil (Euros 12.5 mil) and landed as the eighth highest-grossing film in 2006. Its sequel Night Before Finals: Today raked in $15 mil (Euros 12.2 mil) the following year and ended in 12th place over all at year’s end.

Brizzi’s 2009 film Ex grossed $13 mil (E10.5).

The director is concurrently shooting two pictures called Maschi Contro Femmine and Femmine Contro Maschi(Men Against Womenand Women Against Men) to be released by 01 Distribution on October 29, 2010 and by Medusa in February 2011. The films address the weaknesses of each sex and are produced by I.I.F.
