Film has already taken $4m in Spain.

Vienna-based outfit Terra Mater Factual Studios has acquired international sales rights to Spanish director Gerardo Olivares’ popular drama Among Wolves (Entre Lobos) at EFM.

Among Wolves tells the true story of a boy’s years spent living alone in the Spanish wilderness in the 1960s among the wild animals. Talented young Spanish actor Juan Jose Ballesta plays the lead in the film, which is also co-produced by Spanish outfit Arakao Films, and has taken an impressive $4m in Spain through Wanda.

“We are very happy to see Entre Lobos in the hands of such an energetic company. Our co-producer Sophokles Tasioulis has proven his skills in international sales with global box office hits Earth and Deep Blue, where he has managed sales to some of the most prestigious distributors around the world securing releases in over 80 territories,” says José María Morales, producer of Among Wolves and head of Wanda Vision.

Walter Koehler, Terra Mater’s chief executive, adds: “This is a powerful and emotional film that contains wonderful entertainment values and perfectly fits the line of product we are after at Terra Mater Factual Studios. Emotional stories focusing on the natural world both in fiction and non-fiction represent a strong proposal to international audiences. Gerardo’s film is a brilliant example and we are looking forward to expanding our collaboration with exceptional film-makers like him.”

Madrid based Wanda has produced more than 50 films, which have won awards at all the top festivals, including Claudia Llosa’s The Milk Of sorrow, which picked up the Golden Bear in 2009 and was nominated for an Oscar.

Terra Mater is home to the production company Universum and is part of the Red Bull Media House, specializing in nature themed productions and international theatrical sales.
