New sales and distribution company The Yellow Affair is launching in Cannes. Miira Paasilinna, formerly of NonStop Sales, heads the outfit as Managing Director. The Yellow Affair is currently based in Helsinki and Stockholm with plans to open a third office to be announced imminently.

“It’s a different business model,” marketing manager Atte Laurila tells Screen. He noted that producers make money from the first sales penny, the company can also offer a new Internet-based distribution platform.

The company is concentrating on signing up producers and new projects here in Cannes, and will kick off sales in Toronto.

The company will offer some projects from parent company production outfit Yellow Film & TV but is keen to sign up more third-party projects as well.

Projects on the slate include Yellow productions such as thriller Blackout, plus pick-ups 3 Seasons In Hell, Red Mercury, Like a Pascha, Through the Eyes of Ouka Leele and Golden Beach.

The company is hosting a launch party tonight in Cannes.
