Programme will allow 12 producers or company managers to be mentored by distribution executives to develop content for UK and international markets.

Film producers looking to sharpen their skills and broaden the scope of their work across emerging platforms will have the opportunity to participate in a mentor program lead by leading industry executives, thanks to the latest iteration of Film Agency for Wales’ Film Junction.

The six-month long Film Junction: Market Mentors programme will offer 12 producers or company managers to be mentored by established distribution executives to develop content for UK and international markets, with a keen eye to web, soundtrack and broadcasting projects. Programme leader Angus Finney says the mentorship serves to emphasise the critical role of distribution in the production process.

The programme also looks to build understanding of how to best connect with audiences and better understand consumer behaviour.

“We hope that by bringing market practice into the training and packaging process, producers will benefit both creatively and commercially,” Finney commented.

Market Mentors is funded by Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund as part of ‘A Bigger Future 2’, the UK film skills strategy, and is sponsored by Wiggin Media Law Firm, Swansea Metropolitan University’s Creative Industries Research and Innovation Centre and Skillset Media Academy Wales.
