The Co-operative Group extends funding to British Youth Film Academy until 2014

UK consumer-owned business The Co-operative Group is to extend its support and funding for the British Youth Film Academy (BYFA) until at least 2014. The co-operative has so far backed the Academy with £1.2 million in a six year partnership.

The BYFA worked with 10,000 young people (age 14-25) last year. Guided by professionals offering hands-on experiences through summer camps, events and workshops the students are guided through all aspects of filmmaking.

The BYFA aims to make four full-length features in four UK regions – North West, Yorkshire, East, and West Midlands - during the school summer holidays this year.

The organisation held a cast and crew premiere screening of its film Julius Caesar earlier this year at The Printworks Odeon, Manchester.
