Creative England has backed two new feature films set in the West Midlands.

Wrapt Films’ Here & Now, from director/producer team Lisle Turner and Martina Klich about an inner-city girl who falls in love with a local boy, and Vicarious Dreams’ Here Comes the Summer, directed by Offender’s Ron Scalpello centred on an act of revenge that escalates into a night of violence, have both been awarded funding from the Advantage Media Production Fund (AMPF).

Set up in 2007 by Screen West Midlands, the AMPF is now managed by Creative England and recently backed BBC crime drama Line of Duty and Penny Woolcock’s One Mile Away, which won the Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature at this year’s Edinburgh Film Festival.

Christopher Moll, head of talent at Creative England, commented: “The AMPF remains one of the few active English regional film funds in highly challenging times and we’re delighted to be supporting two highly distinctive and personal features from new and upcoming talent.”

Co-produced with Revolution Films, Here & Now is currently shooting in the Wye Valley.
