UK-based financier Ingenious launches fund to back 20-30 films per-year in the $10-60m range.

UK-based investment and advisory group Ingenious has launched its senior film fund to invest in an envisaged portfolio of between 20 and 30 films, with budgets ranging from $10m to $60m.

Ingenious offers finance in the senior debt position usually occupied by banks and has backed films including Avatar, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and The Descendants.

Commenting on the fund’s launch, Ingenious’ commercial director Duncan Reid said: “Interest in this unique proposition has been excellent and we’re delighted to be ready to consider the fund’s first film investments.”
