EXCLUSIVE: Ariel Vromen will direct the submarine thriller that Fortitude International is fully financing.
The high-profile project signifies the push into production by the LA-based Fortitude, whose sales chief Nadine de Barros heads to Berlin alongside fellow co-founders Robert Ogden Barnum and Daniel Wagner on the occasion of the company’s first anniversary.
Vromen and Laura Rister will produce Dive with Fortitude’s Barnum and Wagner. Ran Mor is co-producer. The producers are holding on to US rights.
The acclaimed director of The Iceman will direct from his screenplay about a former Naval officer haunted by an earlier episode who goes undercover for the DEA when he pilots a cartel submarine.
When the man’s family are kidnapped he must confront his fear of the deep to bring down an evil kingpin and save the day.
Dive marks the first title in the previously announced five-film deal between Fortitude International and Untitled Entertainment.
The sales, production and finance company’s international sales slate includes James Ponsoldt’s David Foster Wallace drama The End Of The Tour, which is about to receive its world premiere at Sundance and stars Jesse Eisenberg and Jason Segel.
