Friends and colleagues held a memorial in Los Angeles on November 7 for David Smitas, the entertainment lawyer who died recently at the age of 62 following a long battle with cancer.

Smitas began his career as a business affairs executive at Embassy Pictures and served as director of business affairs at Apollo Films, Kodiak Pictures and Cannon Pictures, playing an instrumental role in bringing the Chuck Norris series Walker, Texas Ranger to television.

He lived part time in Seoul from 1999-2012 working with Media Film International, among others.

Smitas is survived by his wife Eleanor Albano, his mother Mary Smitas, five siblings and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
