Galveston gets funding

Low Spark Films on board project written by True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto and starring Matthias Schoenaerts [pictured].

Jean Doumanian project Galveston, set to star Matthias Schoenaerts, has been boarded by financier Low Spark Films.

Written by True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto, Embankment Films is handling foreign sales, and is currently repping the project in Cannes.   

Shoot is set to commence in October, 2014 with Janus Metz on board to direct.   

Tyler Davidson of Low Spark Films has joined Jean Doumanian and Patrick Daly of Jean Doumanian Productions on the producing team.

Financing for the film was arranged by CAA and Cinetic Media, who will also handle the film’s North American rights.

Davidson’s Ohio-based Low Spark Films has previously backed titles including Focus Features release The Signal, CBS Films release The Kings of Summer, Magnolia Pictures release Compliance (2012) and Sony Pictures Classics release Take Shelter. 

In 2014, businessman and financier Kevin Flanigan joined Davidson as a partner at Low Spark.
