The 2014 Gulf Film Festival has been put on hold just a week before it was set to begin.

The seventh edition of the festival, which celebrates excellence in cinema from the region, was set to run from April 9-15. It would have showcased more than 120 film from across the Gulf, with screenings at Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates.

But organisers have released a statement that said: “We regret to inform you that the seventh edition of The Gulf Film Festival which was scheduled to run from 9th – 15th April, 2014 has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.

“We would like to thank friends and partners of the Festival for their continuous support and we will announce the new festival dates in due course.”
