New division, Halo Film & Drama, will be run by joint MDs David Turner and Simon Wilkinson.

Halo has announced further expansion with a new division, Halo Film & Drama.

Run by joint MDs David Turner and Simon Wilkinson (who joins Halo from Technicolour), Halo Film & Drama will operate from Halo’s recently enlarged facility in Noel Street and will be based around Flame Premium, Smoke and Baselight, while the sound department will utilise Halo’s two Dolby 7.1 film mixing rooms and six television 5.1 mix suites.

Creative director Dominic Thompson, previously head of editing at Technicolour, will be responsible for building a top-level creative team dedicated to film and drama picture services.

Halo Post, under MD Jo Beighton, will continue to oversee the growth of Halo’s core markets of TV factual, documentary, LE and Natural History programming across its four central London sites.

Turner commented: “With the official launch of Halo Film and Drama, we are taking it to the next level and expanding into long form picture post production. We will offer production companies a premier one-stop shop for all film and drama post production requirements, and all within a boutique, non-corporate and client focused environment.”

“Since leaving Technicolour my desire has been to work for an ambitious and independent company with clients’ needs at its very heart,” said Wilkinson. “I am therefore very excited to be joining the Halo team who have a clear passion for the industry and driving the company forwards.”

“We’ll be starting small but quickly setting about building the best drama & film picture post team in London, one that can compete on the world stage. Having three very capable and experienced individuals in charge is exactly what this division needs,” added John Rogerson, Halo CEO.

Halo has recently worked on mixes for films including Les Misérables, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and About Time, as well as TV dramas such as Southcliffe.
